Lancashire's Health


  • Across Lancashire 20% of the population had a limiting long-term illness. This is slightly higher then the rate across England and Wales of 18%. Over 10% said their health was 'not good'.

  • The rate of conceptions to under 18 year olds was 41.1 per 1,000 girls aged 15 - 17 in 2001. This was just below the national average.

  • The Standard Mortality Ratio across Lancashire was 106 in 2002 (England and Wales = 100). Of the Districts it was highest in Burnley at 118.
