  • Over 1.1 million people live in Lancashire. The population increased by 1.7% since 1991, compared to an average increase of 2.5% nationally.

  • Over the next 15 years the number of households in Lancashire will increase by over 45,000.

  • There are over 468,000 households in Lancashire

  • The Lancashire proportion of non-white residents is 5.3 %. In the UK the proportion is 8.3%.

  • Some 6.7% of households are lone parent households with dependent children.

  • About 20% of the population are aged under 15. More than 80% is aged between 15 and 75 years.
